Leo Peralta named Ms. San Francisco Leather 2010!
San Francisco, CA (October 3, 2010) – Hotly-contested title awarded in stellar evening!
The 2010 Ms. San Francisco Leather contest easily met, if not exceeded, the high standards set by the 2009 contest. Final numbers are not yet in, but contest producers have announced that each of the 2010 beneficiaries: The Lavender Youth Recreation & Information Center (LYRIC), and the Women’s Leather History Project of the Leather Archives and Museum, will receive at least $1,500!
Three amazing contestants vied for the opportunity to formally represent the San Francisco bay area leather community through achieving the coveted title of Ms. San Francisco leather: Angel, a Switch Leather Dyke who serves with San Francisco Dykes on Bikes Women’s Motorcycle Contingent as a Board Member, Merchandise Chair and San Francisco Bay Area Leather Alliance Alternate Representative; Leo Peralta, Marketing Director and Co-Owner of butchboi.com, a founding member of The Big Pink House, organizer of the Bay Area Queer/Leather Happy Hour, event planner for the Bay Area TNG, and Co-Director of Marketing for International Ms Leather Weekend 2010; and Ms. Cat, co-host of the popular Eclipse play parties, which have served the women & trans community for over 4 years, previous Volunteer Coordinator for Folsom’s Venus’ Playground, and former coordinator of the FemmePosse of San Francisco.
The awesome panel of Judges, all esteemed members of the leather community, had their work cut out for them as they were presented with 3 contestants whose presentations were consistently outstanding throughout the contest. Judges were: Skeeter (Head Judge), Cowboi Jen, Lance Holman, Ms Rhonda, and the “secret” Judge, now revealed to be Gauge Strongarm! The meet and greet, held Friday, October 1 at the Eagle Tavern, was emceed by Lady Hilary, and the contest, held Saturday, October 2, at the Hotel Whitcomb was emceed by Miranda. Both emcees kept the audience entertained, laughing, and engaged. The contest was dedicated to Heidi Bear, a longstanding member of the leather community.
When it was all over, all three contestants had been honored. Ms. Cat had earned the title of First Runner-Up, The Leather Heart award was given to Angel (the recipient of this award is chosen by a vote of the contestants), and Leo Peralta was named Ms. San Francisco Leather. Congratulations to all 3 contestants for a uniformly outstanding job!
